The famous Telford Bridge at Ironbridge is close to the venue for the launch of the European Route of Industrial Heritage (ERIH) in 2005. In the last two years major sites in the UK, the Netherlands and the Rhur have been acknowledged as ERIH Anchor Points representing a range of industries including:
Textile manufacturing at Salts Mill, Saltair,
Iron works at Ironbridge Museums, Telford
Coal mining at Rhondda Heritage Park
and on the 4th July power, energy, gunpowder at the Royal Gunpowder Mills Waltham Abbey..
“The Industrious East”
This year a network of smaller industrial heritage sites will be linked together through a series of regional routes – the first to be launched will “the Industrious East” on the 4th July 2007.
Congratulations to Braintree Warners’ Archive Museum (a ERIH site) on reaching the finals for the prestigeous Gulbenkian Award.

The 2007 Tiptree Strawberry Race on the 21st June will raise money for the local Essex Wildlife Trust. The challenge to find the fastest picker of the tiny Little Scarlet strawberries used in the Tiptree conserve; it’s very competitive with pickers from 18-80 taking part.

Felsted School Chapel will be a stunning venue for Felsted Choral Society’s Concert on Sunday 17th June 2007. Described as “an evening of musical bliss” Roger Lawrence will conduct music by: Monteverdi – Beatus Vir, John Rutter’s Requiem and the Brandenberg Concerto No 4. Felsted’s famous school can be found midway between Chelmsford/Dunmow/Braintree.

TV Chef Danny Boome's visit to Maldon and Tiptree were featured in the recent edition of Coastal Kitchen on ITV. We had a great day with Danny and the crew as he picked Little Scarlet Strawberries, visited the Tiptree jam factory and cooked three delicious dishes in a field overlooking the Blackwater Estuary.
