Honey at Home -
Crumbles are becoming fashionable again and several variations appeared on the recent edition of BBC TV’s Great British Bake Off.

This summer I used a delicious runny honey - Tiptree Organic Honey, instead of sugar, to sweeten home grown gooseberries in a crumble and then topped the crumble with slivers of almonds and a dusting of castor sugar.

Mushrooms at Midday
Morning Dew and mushrooms seem to go together but rather than searching for them in the fields I’ve found some lovely flat field type mushrooms in the shops.

I expect it’s not the recommended healthy option but I peel them and cut them across the centre and then cut into fan shaped pieces. Heat good quality butter (not spreadable) in a saucepan (sometimes adding a dash of olive oil) and cook mushrooms until they start to collapse, add freshly ground black pepper and sea salt. Serve on a hot toasted crumpet or with a slice of crusty brown bread – garnish with some tasty green leaves.
